Mighty Mallard of Umystery

Sire: Altricia Winter Secret
Dame: Home of Boycaras Umystery
Our Mel,
born on June 30th 2001 at Umystery kennels. A lovely dog who is a good worker
with a gentle character. In the year 2000 I wanted something more, a dog to work
with. Someone said, I should have a BC, but the only ones I knew were quite
nervous dogs. I didn't like that, and I said so. Then I got an invitation of the
owner of Umystery kennels, to come see her dogs. I accepted and saw a totally
different BC. Stable and steady dogs, who were willing to work without that
nervous touch I've seen in so many Border Collies. After a few visits I decided
I wanted a pup out of the above combination, and the waiting took forever.......
But, at long last the litter was born in 2001, and Mel was there.

Mel
13 weeks of age.
Mel
has turned out to be a great dog, a loving companion with a good drive to work.
I
used to work him in competitive obedience, but we started herding a few months
ago.

He loves to cuddle.

But he is always ready to
work.

WARNING:
A
Border Collie is, contrary to what's assumed, not the easiest of dogs! They
learn very fast, that includes less pleasant things as well. If not stimulated
enough, they will create their own 'job' like herding your kids, chasing cars,
do some interior decorating (and their taste might not be yours!!) and lots of
other things you don't want them to.
They need lots of exercise and mental
stimulation. If you are not prepared or unable to give your dog this, please
consider a different breed!
