Sire: Anthony of Treacka's Garden                               Dame: Aoibheann of Cear Myrrdin

 Born: 29-11-2003

At: Cear Myrrdin Ierse Wolfshonden, Ravels - Belgium

Completely unexpected, our family expanded with a beautiful Irish Lady. On January 17  2004 we went for a visit to  Conny and André Goossens, and returned home with the promise that one of those pups came to live with us in the future. These people gave us the most precious gift anyone could get, and we are deeply grateful for the trust they have in us.

Ever since I was a little girl, I would gaze at the Irish Wolfhounds on exhibitions and shows. Later on, I have gotten more involved in the breed, reading up on them, talking to breeders and owners, going on organised walks by IW societies, joining mailing lists etc. etc. We were offered a rescue dog twice, but they came at a bad time in our life. One while our BC Mel was in a difficult stage at his life and one shortly after our eldest dog had died. Also an other pup was more or less rejected by us, because we didn't want our old dog Hannes to cope with a pup. But now we could give this girl a good home. On February 4th 2004  Cassie came to live with us!

New arrival.

Irish Wolfhounds are great companions, also in body! They become very large animals and in their first year they grow enormously fast! That is something to keep in mind. Due to their fast growth, they need large quantities of food, and of high quality! This will stretch your wallet a bit ;-) They take up a lot of room in your house and need lots of exercise when they are grown. They make excellent pets, but always keep in mind that they were originally hunting dogs (galloping hounds) and they are very strong.

It still fits.............

 The menu of an IW:

  • The kids candy

  • fruit, everything

  • bread, even that what's in the bin

  • crackers, the messier the better

  • crayons (maybe they like to paint?)

  • shoes, new ones are the best.

  • arm chairs

  • Hygienic bandage, to give the house that Christmas look

  • yoghurt, use your human as a towel afterwards

  • human food, even when it's stored on high places

  • water, take a mouth full to take with you and spread it around

  • the guinea pigs food

  • fish bate, the fisherman falling into the water of shear terror is to entertain you

  • spiders, but mum will love you for that!!

An Irish Wolfhound is always hungry, and if not......they are in for a snack..........

Eleven months old.
